Carrolup: Child Artists, Noongar Identity, and World Heritage

Landscape by Claude Kelly, pastel on paper, 18 x 25cm, c.1948. Donated through the Australian Government’s Cultural Gifts Program by Melvie, Stan and Gael Phillips, Berndt Museum of Anthropology, The University of Western Australia [1992/0110].

Two weeks ago, I attended the annual meeting of the Centre of Native Title Anthropology (CNTA), held in conjunction with the Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation.

This workshop focused on the theme Native Title in a Time of Change.

David Clark and I were invited to address the symposium on Day Three. Our co-presentation—I spoke first followed by David—created great interest and a stimulating discussion. It was followed by a private tour for workshop participants of the Berndt Museum of Anthropology arranged by its Director, Dr Vanessa Russ.

Below is my Powerpoint presentation, which you can view here or download. David’s presentation will be available tomorrow.

A pdf version of the presentation can be obtained here. [NB. The two videos are not linked to in this version].
