‘Oprah Winfrey and leading child psychiatrist and neuroscientist Bruce Perry, MD, PhD explore the impact of childhood trauma on who we become, the decisions we make, and how healing must start with one question ‘what happened to you?’ in anticipation of a new co-authored book of the same name. Winfrey and Dr. Perry focus on understanding how shifting the approach to trauma and allowing understanding of the past allows for an opening of the door to resilience and healing in a proven, powerful way.’
In a previous Story blog post and Healing blog post, I have talked about the exciting new book What Happened to You?: Conversations on Trauma, Resilience, and Healing. This is one of the most important books I have read in the 45 years I have been working in the mental health field. In the film below, Oprah and Bruce talk about the book and the topics it covers. They cover a range of important issues. In future blogs, I’ll focus on some of these issues. For now, I leave you with the whole 39’51” film. Sit back, enjoy and learn.
